New Guest Added to Line-up

As Graceland prepares for a birthday built for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, we are excited to share another addition to the guest lineup. Singer/songwriter Larry Gatlin will appear at the Elvis Music Salute on January 9 to share his Elvis memories and music. Elvis recorded two of Gatlin’s songs - Help Me and Bitter They Are, Harder They Fall.

Highlights of the 90^th Birthday Celebration include the annual Elvis Birthday Proclamation Ceremony on January 8, the Elvis Birthday Pops Concert featuring Terry Mike Jeffrey and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra also on January 8; the Elvis Music Salute on January 9 featuring those who knew and shared the stage with Elvis; Conversations on Elvis panel on January 10; the Elvis: Live on Stage screen show, also on January 10, featuring Elvis’ vocals backed by a live band; plus Graceland’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Birthday Bash, bus tours, dance party, and much more!

Special guests scheduled to appear include Richard Sterban, Terry Blackwood, Estelle Brown, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, plus SiriusXM Elvis Radio DJ Argo, Pat Dunn, Tom Brown, Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Dean Z, Terry Mike Jeffrey, Andy Childs, among others.

The Sweet Inspirations

As part of Conversations on Elvis on January 10, Graceland will honor the musical group The Sweet Inspirations with an induction into Graceland Legends. Graceland Legends is designed to honor and recognize the musicians and musical groups who were an integral part of Elvis Presley’s legendary career. The Sweet Inspirations started working with Elvis in 1969 during his first Las Vegas engagement at the International Hotel and continued with him through his passing in 1977. Members during the group’s years with Elvis were Estelle Brown, Cissy Houston, Sylvia Shemwell, and Myrna Smith.

CHRISTMAS AT GRACELAND 2024

VIVA LAS VEGAS / LIVE CONCERT

Fue en el año 2007. Ahora mismo lo estoy volviendo a oir. Se editada un CD titulado Viva Las Vegas, pero no tenía la banda sonora de la película.

El CD está dedicado al periodo de Elvis en Las Vegas en directo de 1969. Su regreso después de varios años haciendo películas, como el mismo se encarga de explicar durante la actuación que recoge el segundo CD (en la versión de 2 Cd). RCA grabó varios conciertos en ese mes de Agosto de 1969 en el Hotel Internacional de Las Vegas, y el que se incluyó en este CD, nunca se había editado previamente. Es el primero que grabaron, la medianoche del 21 de Agosto.

Es un concierto muy entretenido. Elvis está relajado e interactúa bastante con el público. El sonido multipista es brillante.

HEART & SOUL - ELVIS PRESLEY

En el año 1995 se editó en el sello RCA/BMG una compilación llamada "Heart & Soul". Producida por Paul Williams, Ernst Mikael Jorgensen y Roger Semon. La restauración del audio la efectuó Bill Lacey. Mediados de los años 90 fue un tiempo en que todavía se estaba restaurando a digital el catálogo de Elvis Presley, y este CD está digitalmente remasterizado.

El atractivo de este lanzamiento yo lo enfoco aún hoy en 2023 en su excelente sonido y en la magnífica selección de canciones concatenadas por una especie de patrón rítmico que es la que da título al CD.

La primera pista "Love me tender" se incluye por primera vez en stereo. También la pista 20, "I've lost you" de 1970 es inédita en stereo hasta este lanzamiento. Y se cierra con "Bridge over troubled water" por primera vez lanzada suprimiendo los aplausos que aparecen en el álbum original de 1970, que habían sido añadidos. En total 22 canciones en orden de época (desde los 50 a los 70).

En cuanto a la calidad de la presentación del producto es muy buena, con una brillante pose en color en la portada, que forma parte de un libreto interior unido como un desplegable de 8 páginas, que incluye abundantes datos de las canciones incluidas, incluyendo fecha de grabación y hasta número de matriz y toma donde esta era conocida, los créditos del CD y más fotos.
